I doubt Israel would be behaving as aggressively as they are if they honestly believed they were going to lose US support. They are not exactly surrounded by friendly nations. In addition the withdrawal of weapons support by the US just might influence other Western nations to consider the same. Certainly Israel's behavior in Gaza is already causing other Western nations and the UN to question Israel's behavior and investigate the possibility of war crimes. So far, Israel has thumbed it nose up at it. And why wouldn't they when they have the backing of a nation as powerful as the US? We are complicit.
The US makes a lot of moralistic noise, but does it really back up its words with deeds? We are in danger of becoming the biggest hypocrite this world has ever seen by doing the exact opposite of our highfalutin words.
Yes, its a complicated issue however there comes a time when one must take a stand. We often sing our own praises as being the leader of the free world and the defender of human rights. It's long past the time for the US to stop supplying the Israeli war with weapons and enabling their ability to continue the slaughter in Gaza and to start defending those humans rights with something other than words and politicking behind closed doors.
Perhaps if we stopped supplying those weapons, Israel would scale back their aggression. But Israel knows like any nation what drives us is 'American interests'. And we aren't about to withdraw support as long as 'American interests' are in the forefront. Human rights too often take the back seat.
I will vote - but in no manner shape or form for either Biden or Trump. My tiny little spec of a voice/vote will not in any way determine the election or even effect it in anyway. But I can't support either candidate when I sincerely believe their moral fiber is so poor.
