What that means is that if you don't have a toll transponder that you will get a bill mailed with an extra $1 tacked on for each toll to cover a "processing fee" (I presume for the photograph of my plate and a computer to read it) and another $.50 each for mailing.
So, I went through toll booths 2x on my way somewhere and 2x coming back, for a total of $3 if I'd paid cash as I always did.
However, the bill that came was $9 !! It all came on ONE BILL, not 4 separate bills/letters and presumably, it didn't cost $4 to "process" it.
Grrr. Naturally, I just got a transponder, which offers a 30% reduction on the toll, btw.
I know it's mere pocket change we're talking about, but WTH didn't they TELL anyone they were going cashless or give voters the right to oppose it?
I never bought a transponder before because I HATE the idea of my car being tracked on toll roads. Now that most of the tolls are cashless, it just doesn't make sense to continue the protest.
