I appreciate that it was probably all in French,
but did they do anything special with it being turned off?
Although probably wouldn't make much difference to most RTL Radio listener's
The high power Longwave French service of RTL Radio Luxembourg has now closed down. It was announced a few months ago. The transmitter was due to be closed down on new years eve but was actually switched off late yesterday, new years day.
It is now possible to get weak reception of Polskie radio (Polish radio) in the UK where I am on the next channel of 225 KHZ at certain times of the day at this time of the year. It's half the power that RTL radio was but must now cover an even bigger area with nothing either side of it.
Only BBC Radio 4 is left with a usable signal on Longwave now in western Europe with moderate reception still from RTE on 252 in the UK.
