It allows for any expansion of green technologies to be allowed to cover all AM transmission power usage (if this is wanted and makes cost effective sense). You have to remember historically Caroline has had connections and promotions for the green agenda and looking after the environment, long before it was fashionable.
From my personal view, I believe this allows Caroline to concentrate on expanding its coverage on other platforms and possibly other partnerships to use the station as a sustaining service. Although making sure they remain in charge of any content used.
The volunteers will have plenty of work in other areas, such as the work to get more funds made available for the restoration of the Ross and the huge potential of celebrating the 60th anniversary of the beginning of the station. Not to mention the day to day bread and butter stuff of having two stations running 24 hours a day and the costs that go with it.
Either way exciting times ahead and a great challenge for the future to bring in new enthusiastic volunteers who may have more time on their hands and good contacts to allow for a bright future.
Yes David - they used a lot of words to say No, perhaps for now - but they have not closed the door completely. Perhaps the closure of many other MW stations since they came to the conclusion, & the loss of licence money, might change minds?
