At night on the 4kw, Slovenia is pretty much flattened so if I listen at night I am back to analogue rather than Alexa! I even dug out my vintage 1970s Yacht Boy with its gutsy speaker and the overall sound is very nice.
Takes me back to the 70s listening to the Mi Amigo at home in Scotland. Who says nostalgia is a thing of the past!
Yes, very odd that Ian - Yes, with a good mobile set-up in your vehicle, it is surprising how far 4kw will go - I remember some of the "Experts" on the dark side, saying we would not see much difference between 1kw & 4kw
How wrong they were.
OK, in the area where I live - about 50 miles from Orford as the airways fly - it only makes a difference when passing noisy overhead wires.
I've not been very far north since 648 started, but often head in the Birmingham direction, & the signal is OK until the M42, then the faulty BBC 5 live TX at Droitwich, which seems to have more of a channel spread than is should, makes listening difficult.
Well strangely enough no signal on 630 kHz anywhere in Newcastle. However 648 was easily listenable all the way up the A1.
By coincidence, I will be in Newcastle tomorrow daytime. Will report back if I hear anything although I would say the chances are slim!
Flea power probably, Ydun noted the FB post but I doubt anyone actually heard the signal
"Medium wave test underway North East England until 21.45 on 630Khz. Very low power so get your loops out. Programming from Rockstar Classic Rock

Hmm?
The man that says AM/MW is as dead as a Norwegian Blue Parrot, has been testing on 630kHz.
The no expense spared test using a state of the art antenna system (modified CB antenna) is believed to have received reports from almost 500 yards away.
All I can say is good luck with this.
