A liquid electrofuel:
- is more efficient than hydrocarbon fuel because it releases electrical energy instead of heat and bypasses the Carnot Limit
- is safer than either gasoline or Li-Ion batteries because it is non-flammable
- can be re-fueled like gasoline
- can be recharged like a battery
- is less expensive than Li-Ion batteries
- is more compact than Li-Ion batteries
- uses more readily available materials, unlike Li-Ion batteries
Right now, hydrocarbon fuels are the more economical choice, despite price volatility, and also the best performing. Electrification might be desirable, if the advantages listed above are realized, without any significant downside. Liquid electrofuel seems to be one possible candidate, and appears to be at least somewhat superior to Li-Ion batteries, the leading competitor in electric vehicles.
