This historical tidbit on one of the most popular banks in the islands today:
"Because the slave ship voyages were both risky and long, New forms of credit were introduced to the British banking system.
The need for long-term credit, with bills payable from one-and-a-half to three years, led to specialist banking houses such as that operated by Alexander and David Barclay, whose bank bears the family name to this day."
Dude, a couple of my family worked for Barclay's Bank on the island and I know for sure NONE OF THEM knew the brothers who founded that bank gained their wealth thru the slave trade and plantation slavery.
In fact, it a source of great pride to graduate from school and find employment at any Barclay's Bank on any of the British islands.
Thats how brainwashed and uneducated we are of our history, and who the MFers were who benefited from our ancestors suffering. SMDFH
