Wow, these are some things that many around the globe don't know including some AAs themselves as well as the Africans on the continent.
So, this is about the Jim Dandy ski club, the nation's first-ever Black ski club founded in "1958". This means Blacks were into skiing during segregation, and before the civil rights movement, Black Americans were not allowed to spend time at ski resorts, as they were considered public places with segregation laws in place.

Ha, sometimes we forget that there was an energetic & successful AA community before the Civil Right's movement and integration. Sometimes history is presented as if AA history really began after 1964 or 1965. So let's not be blinded by the white-washed modern history of Black folks!
Great bit of historical reminder, Sir! Btw.. I remember the song Jim Dandy To The Rescue. My uncle loved to sing that song.. funny as hell

Funny thing was back in the 40s and before that, Kris told AA that they can't ski because of the "cold", hahahaha,LOL
Just WOW, Skiing like Swimming were like a big NO-NO for Blacks in the minds of Whites (worldwide). LOL, I mean the words skiing and swimming were the synonyms of Apartheid at that time.
