What an incredibly sharp picture that is especially since it has been scanned.
It is unusual for a photo of that period to come up so well. You can even read the "Lochside ales" ad and the "supplied by James Deuchar" on the side of the Station Hotel.
Plus the clock shows 3.05 which explains the blokes loitering outside the pub just after chucking out time.
I'm guessing that this was mid fifties. Certainly after 1951 and probably before 1959 when I think demolition of the old buildings began.
That is the Jarrow I remember as a lad.
