What a great piece of work Michael, it took me back to 1945 to 1949, 11 years old. I had shocked my parents on a Saturday afternoon in 1945 at one of my cousins wedding by announcing that I was starting as a paperlad for Joe Nightingale the next day, Sunday.
My round was East St, South St, Spencer St, West St, Barnard Cres. Lots of the names you mentioned were my customers, the Roberts,Bones, Hannahs, Winds, Douglas, Mcguiness etc. etc. etc. I then went down Railway St & into the Prefabs. I would say that I thoroughly enjoyed my 5 years almost, trapseing around Barnard Cres.
