The only records I could find in the newspapers, relating to a Mr Gofton, with head injuries is as follows:
24 April 1885 Newcastle Journal:
Thomas Robson Gofton, of 2, Duke Street, Wrekenton, was found dead in a quarry, at Beacon Lough, with considerable fracture to his head.
6 November 1902 Shields Daily News:
Mr A. Gafton, veterinary surgeon, Cleveland Road, North Shields, son of Mr John Gofton, was kicked by a horse and suffered a fractured skull.
