Thank you for this additional info. Locating the exact store in which I worked has always been a problem because ,as you say, Jarrow was awash with Co-op's. I suppose I would only be sure if I could walk up to and go inside. It certainly was Groceries only. As you walk in through the front entrance there was a serving long counter to the left and another straight forward , to the right were displays and in the far right hand corner the doorway to behind the flour department counter also to the right was an ( still within the four walls of the building ) unloading bay from which goods were unloaded and the sacks of flour, corn bran etc' were hoisted up to the top floor to be emptied down into the hoppers.
I lived in campbell street just off Argyle Street and would often walk or run to work in the morning then catch the bus home after.
I must say that they were happy unstressful times.
