Upon visiting the website, I noticed that Hebburn college has been demolished (gallery 423), when did this happen, and what has been built upon the site, if anything (probably housing). I used to teach maths there many years ago. I no longer live in the UK so am interested in what happened. I used to live in North Tyneside and that has changed immensely since my childhood, now it's just one giant housing estate!
Also, great photos of the chemical works I remember the tower, I used to see it walking to school in Willington Quay, or using the Gowan ferry to cross the river, but nobody else seems to remember it, so thank you posting. I also remember the lit flame on the coke works chimney (I think it was Monkton). It's difficult to both convey and describe to my children just what North and South Tyneside were like decades ago, better times, so thank you again, great website.
