In 1850, the west section of Quarry Road, from Victoria Road West, to Canning Street, was woodland; the east section was ‘Quarry Hill’ - both occupied by Thomas and Robert Stothard, and both leased from landowner Cuthbert Ellison.
Named after: It being the road that led to the quarry.
