In 1850, this was arable land, named ‘Ox Close & Slipper Leighs’, occupied by Matthew Laws, and leased from landowner Cuthbert Ellison. Named after:
Landlocked county on the east Midlands of England, bounded to the west and north by Leicestershire, to the northeast by Lincolnshire and the southeast by Northamptonshire.
