Such a nice building and its news to me it was burnt down. I can remember it as a child and the Manager I recall was Mr Snowball, Cant guess at what age I was about 10-ish or younger I think. I do recall he had a daughter (name cant remember), but she used to work in the Co-op in the little office where the small "clubs" were were taken out. We just called her "Miss Snowball" Amounts were small say £5 or less to purchase things like School clothes, boots & shoes etc. and pay the club off weekly. I recall my Mother used to take clubs out for other people and as they paid them off I think she saved the Checks, added them up and claimed the dividend. As an adult I spent some of my spare time in the Colliery Club & the remainder in the White Lead where going in there Black from Head to Foot didn't bother anyone as we were sheparded into a corner away from most people. Happy Daze.
