The building in the red box is the same in each photograph, though taken at different times.
The buildings were being demolished, so, will now be gone, which leads me to believe that the street with the vehicle was Cobden Street, Jarrow, with the oil tankers ahead on the railway, which led to the Shell Mex.
The following map shows Cobden Street, and surrounding buildings, which seems to tally with the streets in the photographs above. The one thing that gives me doubt is the building on the end Ė above the manís head Ė looks as though itís protruding further into the street than the building on the map is; maybe it's an optical illusion:
