Streets of Hebburn ~ Wreigh Street…

Accessed via Argyle Street and Ropery Lane. Built in or Before 1901. Demolished c.1973. This street led to the old Frazer’s Steel Stockyard - now the Robert Frazer Industrial Estate. The south west block of Wreigh Street was replaced by the Hebburn community centre car park. North-east block replaced by Hebburn Community Centre, and demolished 2016.
In 1850, this was arable land, known as ‘Second Long Field’, occupied by John Redhead, and leased from landowner Cuthbert Ellison. Named after:
