We can't forget the ever dedicated and irreplaceable Norman Dunn, a brilliant person, doing a great job reciprocating with his delightful and incredibly enthusiastic admins - they make a complimentary and unique team. We're very lucky... aren't we?
There has been a tremendous amount of excellent material posted on the message board over the years: stories, pictures and personal accounts, etc.
It has been 14 years since I started backing up this message board... that's every single message posted (taken over by my daughter when my Internet’s been off, or I’ve been away) using copy & paste (pictures included). Way over 40,000 pages! It makes compelling reading, and the first part of the database is now freely available for your perusal – the other files will appear in time. I don’t think I’m overly focused… it’s just that I have a healthy regard for saving data that is very important to folk on this board.
I hope that knowing this backup exists makes you feel relieved, as this way, all our late message board friends will be remembered. And to think, if it hadn't been for the selfless joint efforts of Mike, Vikki and Norman (and their teams, along with your generous message contributions of course), there would be none of this wonderful archive for future generations. Long may it continue.
If there’s anything you’d like to see added to any pages on the Hebburn archives website: stories, links, etc., please let me know.
I hope that viewing the message board data backup will elicit many fond memories, cause further discussions and be an aid to your questions, as most of the answers are in there, having been asked and answered many times over. And, one never knows, there might be a lost picture or document in there that you've been searching for.
Opening a file is really easy: Choose a file, left-click on it, and wait for it to open.
To make searches: While the file is open, click on the magnifying glass, which is usually in the top left corner; type in a word you are looking for and then press enter on your keyboard - this will bring up each account of that particular word, in turn, throughout the document from top to bottom.
It just leaves me to say, 'Enjoy viewing the files and have fun!'
Regards to all,
