Re: Red Barns at the south end of Mill Lane
the family that lived there were called the wilsons, originally from pelaw, i went to bill quay school with them, the oldest billy, now around 80 lives at coniston, heworth, the second oldest raymond died last year, then alan, still alive, lives at bill quay, they all lived at princess street pelaw in the fifties, they were always called the "hillbillies", the quarry owners moved them off the red barns site last year, as they are planning to quarry nearly to mill lane, or so i was told, in the sixties and seventies they lived in underground military bunkers.
