How they managed in the tropics I wonder.
If a boat was taken out of the water for repairs it had to be done quickly but they could use buckets to keep the timbers from drying out.
My Uncle Barney was a lifeboat builder in Redheads and he told me stories about the lifeboat that they had to repair off ships that came in for overhaul.
Why I remember them is that all the lifeboat stores were changed before the ships sailed. And I used to get every few months a jar of Sweets the Big Ones maybe that started of my tooth decay!!!.
