Dover Calais is 90 mins on ferry, 35 min through tunnel.
We now use the ferry Hull, Zeebrugge which is overnight and is best for us as itís 2 hours to Hull, board for sailing at 19.00 set off from Zeebrugge at 8.30 the next morning. We in effect save 2 days travel in UK and 2 overnight halts and 580 miles of fuel which pays for the additional ferry costs.
However nearly all heavies are going to the southern part of U.K. and I would think they donít like the thought of their lorries standing unused for 12-15 hours on longer crossings.
There are a lot of heavies using North Shields and Hull and you have the car transport ships for Nissan.
