Jarrow steelworks closed in 1986, and the rail network in the steelworks stopped in around 1981 I think. I don't know when the railways to the shipyards stopped running though, but it may have been the late 70s/early 80s, as the sidings off Argyle Street were still there by around the mid 80s.
