Danesfield was a maternity home,not a hospital before 1948 there were restriction's who was entitled to be admitted,after 1948,lots of Hebburn and Jarrow children were born there,but if there were complications with the birth they were taken to South- Shields Hospital,my third childs birth was such a case but with Dr Miller being in charge of me I could not be moved and the medical team from Newcastle came to Danesfield.
I agree that home is where the heart is.mine has always been in Hebburn.
