I'm pleased to be able to say I'm a Hebburn lad. I was born at 80 Station Road, went to a nursery school just over the station bridge, then to Newtown infants and junior schools and then Jarra Gramma and finally Hebburn Tech. I worked at Pyrotenax when I left school at 16 and Reyrolle until I was 36 years old.
I had to iron out my Geordie accent a bit when talking on the phone to Reyrolle customers down south and overseas, but now I'm in the Scottish borders, people still recognise me as a Geordie by my voice.
