I ate in that restaurant every weekend from age 4 till about 10. (48-54).
I particularly recognize it from the interior but I cant remember the writing on the roof. It was widely referred to as Frankie's Cafe but on reflection I can accept that it was The Wouldhave,my memory having been aided by Lillian.
If you look at Barry's images/plan the building was on the plot of land seaward of Gandi's Temple between the car park to the North and the Surf School to the South.
As you walked down from the Temple the first buildings (little more than huts) you came to were Frankies Chippy and Ice Cream shop,
Then next was the long cafe from Normans Image.
The long cafe disappeared many many years ago. My guess is the early sixties but Frankies Chippy etc hung on for a few more years.
Those of you who used the Gypsies Green car park in the sixties for courting purposes may recall the dates.!!
