The map names a Wooden Bridge almost dead centre.
All my life, and I am getting on a bit now. I have always thought that the Wooden Bridge that I remember as a young lad ( pre 1939) was the only Wooden Bridge within my compass.
My bridge and the path leading up to it was straight up from the top of Argyle Street to take you over the Newcastle/South Shields railway then on towards the Golf Links, Lakes and Coke Ovens.
From memory it's skelton was constructed with angle iron and wooden cladding.
Now I see there is another and could there be more??
Like the bridge of Spuggies many people had a Spuggies Bridge but necessarily the same one.
You learn something new every day, the trick is not to forget it by the next day, where was I now????
