Re: Noah's Arc replica built in Palmers
Norman, I have mentioned the Palmers 'Noah's Arc' at least twice over the years on the board. I was always lead to believe it was constructed by Hebburn Palmers apprentices. Be that as it may, as a child I passed the shipyard offices on Wagonway Road hundreds of times and one of the joys was to see that model on display in the office windows on the edge of the road for many years.
Some years ago I visited the Discovery Museum in Newcastle in search of drawings/photos of the Tyne tug 'Beamish' which lead to the building of a large model of same. Whilst there I was privileged to be given a conducted tour of the storage areas. Amongst some of the most superb marine models was the 'Arc'. I can only assume that it is now on loan to the Theatre Royal from Discovery.
