The first image brings back memories – some happy, some sad.
Alas, a friend of the family lost his life outside of the pub, whilst on his motorbike.
I started Clegwell at age 11 (1971) and made friends with a classmate named Peter Jordan - his family ran the Banks of the Tyne and Peter and I would often visit on afternoons, during school dinner break. Peter always seemed to come away with packets of salted nuts.
A few years later, my cousin owned that pub. My brother was married in 1975 and had his do at the Banks; he invited our Nanna & Granda Cram; I have a nice, clear memory, of waving Nanna & Granda off in a taxi after the wedding do.
James, I like how the tree is still there in both images – how good’s that?
