These operating systems may install but things like graphics, network, sound wont work because there wont be any drivers .
All devices need a driver ,these can be checked in Device Manager ,if something does'nt work ,it may not have a driver and will be highlighted in Device Manager with a yellow ! or a ?.
All my older pcs/laptops that had XP or Vista will run happily on Windows 7 [32bit] so all your old programs will work .
Bare in mind that from January 2020 Windows 7 wont be supported by Microsoft so running such a machine on the internet will be risky. But you can do as I do ,run an older pc/laptop not connected to the internet .
I use 3 XP pc's for music and video editing ,they have never been on the internet and work perfectly as "stand alones" .
We will all be forced into using a Windows 10 pc or laptop for internet use.
I do have spare laptops and many PC's here at home should you require a "stand alone". I have versions of XP with Service Packs should you require them.
