That looks to be a fascinating old place. Almost certainly an old water mill. Most of the metalwork tells the tale but then there are those mill stones that are a dead giveaway. I would fancy a walk around that building to see if there are any clues. There should be the remains of a head and tail race but you never know. It could be that all that equipment has been brought on site to set up a mill in that building. If that is the case then it looks like the idea fell through
When I worked for South Yorks CC in the mid 1970s, I used to work in Worsborough Mill, Barnsley, one weekend in every month. We used to grind cereal crops for animal feed and occasionally made flour for human consumption. All the old ironwork in that mill was similar to that you can see in Ian's photos.
