Once again what's left of the Hawthorn Leslie Shipyard building is on fire tonight, the Powers that be have abdicated their responsibilities over the years & let this building deteriorate & allowed it to be vandalised, to the point it has become a safety hazard. This building is/was an iconic reminder of Hebburn's Shipbuilding heritage & shamefully has been left to deteriorate until we've inevitably got to the point whereby that the building will be for safety reasons demolished. So what will happen now? Well the "no brain , no imagination required, easy option" (that has been implemented all over Hebburn) will once again come into play - Flatten it & build houses on it, more people coming into the town that we don't have the schools, the doctors, the infrastructure to sustain .
Very very sad.
