The reason we were there is that we were asked to fill a couple of vacant seats on a Probus two day NE tour. Yesterday was spent at Beamish, then to the Jury Inn on the riverside. Then this morning we took the river trip on 'Fortuna' from Newcastle Quayside to Tynemouth and back. Fancy a tour like that being organised from our little village...for us it was like carrying coals to Newcastle. We are back home again now in South Yorks and I don't suppose we will ever do that again...it has taken 80 years to get there and not a soul to wave to us on that wooden jetty....ah well, never mind, I could hardly have expected the inhabitants of Hebburn to turn out for this big deal. Only one complaint for the whole two days and how can I say it...what ever you do, don't order the cod & chips at Jury's and I really mean that. It was a sin that my poor little fish had to end up the way it did. Far better if it had been left to play in the North Sea.
I took a fair number of photos but most were poor because I was shooting into the sun...not complaining because the weather was great for both days. What a bonus. You can have copies of the whole lot Norman and dump what you don't want. You will have to guide me on how I get them to you because I haven't a clue how to do it. Here is one more of the slightly better pictures...all that is left of Harrison's Yard.
