I agree that this contract should not have gone abroad but it was, apparently, subject to EU Contract Procurement Rules. The decision is not new. It was made as far back as March 2018.
But frankly there is no way something as sensitive as items regarding our own security should be outsourced abroad. So lets hope that however takes the helm will find a way of removing the rules which currently bind us and cancel the contract repatriating it to the UK.
That said there is much more to De La Rue's problems than just the loss of that contract which has been staring them in the face now for more than 18 months.
