new growing year

Spent the day at the allotment today apple and pear trees are budding, the small cherry hasn't survived. Rhubarb crowns are looking good, as are the garlic and onions. Potatoes are chitting well, seven varieties this year, but smaller amounts, chilli's aubergines and capsicum sown and being kept warm. Spent an hour or so cleaning the greenhouse glass in and out, checking the structure, a little maintenance and minor repairs but nothing major. 60 strawberry plants ready to be planted all taken from runners last year and the gooseberries, josta berries and redcurrants all showing signs of life. Back home now, an ache or two,but the day in the fresh air was so good, roll on spring.
