St.Paul's has strong links with Escomb church near Bishop Auckland and built using some of the same stone masons. Escomb stones were taken from a nearby Roman Fort, Binchester. Crafty monks! Incidentally, this is where our Free Masons started. A master Mason employed local freelance masons known from then as free masons who formed a guild....
