In 1850, this was ‘Quarry Hill’, occupied by Thomas and Robert Stothard; leased from Cuthbert Ellison.
Named after: Andrew Leslie a Hebburn shipbuilder who built the shipyard Andrew Leslie & Co. in 1853. He retired from the company in 1886 and the company was merged with RW Hawthorne to form Hawthorne Leslie Shipbuilders.
