Hello Carol, |
As Norman and Thomas have pointed out, the Colliery School was situated on High Lane Row and School Street, Hebburn Colliery.
As far as I know – and maybe Elizabeth can verify this – there was an entrance via High Lane Row, and an entrance via School Street, though, I believe the official address was High Lane Row.
From the book, Streets of Hebburn:
SCHOOL: Hebburn Colliery County Junior Mixed & Infant School. Opened 24, October, 1881; High Lane Road/north side of School Street. Built by Mr John Smith, from the plans of Mr J. H. Morton, South Shields, to accommodate 800 children. Closed c. 1971. Demolish c.1978.
Replaced by McIntyre Hall Sheltered Housing: 30 properties numbered 1 to 59.
SCHOOL: High Lane Road/south side of School Street. Boys & Girls School - St. Oswald’s ancillary building - a reserve building believed to be for school dinners.
