James, the photograph is great and spot on, location wise but that well known view of Quality Row should be dated some time pre WW2. According to Britain from Above, it was there in 1935 and gone by 1946 but it was gone by my earliest memory (about 1941/42. I doubt if anyone was in the business of house demolishment (not counting Hitler) at that time. Part of, Hilda Terrace (later known as Patrick's Place) was probably demolished about the same time, about 5/6 houses on the west end of that row. They were also gone before the war started. Both photographs were taken from just across the road from Hilda Terrace...just off camera to the left on the old shot....and long gone in yours. I lived only a couple of hundred yards away in Arthur Street and wish I had a £ for every time I walled down that bit of Low Road in my childhood days.|
