Dear regulars, |
I’d like to inform you that I have just finished working on Vikki Lawlor’s old message board posts, and have now uploaded them onto the Hebburn archives, here: http://hebburnarchives.info , under the ‘Message Board Archives’ cloud.
While working on the archives, I came across the following post by Terry Whitworth:
Chip shop mission accomplished
Posted by Terry Whitworth on August 6, 2014, 3:22 pm
Just letting all you very helpful people know that, thanks to you, I found the site of my grandparents fish & chip shop in Hebburn [Bella & George Whitworth]. Attached pic of me enjoying my imaginary chips, (possibly from an old 1940s copy of The Sheilds Gazette?).
Had a great time in Newcastle....loved it...loved the warm welcome everywhere, and did lots of cycling in the great weather, along both sides of the Tyne and down the coast to Sunderland, where there happened to be an Air Show happening....bonus!
Thanks again to everyone that helped with all the interesting information. Will certainly be visiting the city again in the near future.
Best wishes, Terry Whitworth, Dorset
I’m pretty sure that Terry Whitworth would be interested in the following beautiful wedding video uploaded by Norman Dunn, a few weeks ago, as it shows a quick glimpse of the fish and chip shop his grandparents owned, which can be viwed at 10:45 minutes: https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/watch-here-comes-the-bride-1948-online
P. S. I am now working on Mike Ellison’s old message board data, to prepare it for uploading to the Hebburn Website Archives.
