For Moira: Hope you haven't started on your travels yet. Thought you would like to see this : |
A newspaper report 6th July 1917 states that Mrs E. HAMMOND, 18 Station Lane, Hebburn New Town, has received information that her son, Private John Hammond, who was reported missing on 23rd July 1916, is now presumed dead. Another son has lost a leg in the war and a third son has been wounded three times. Did your Grandad lose a leg or was he the one wounded three times?
