Not everyone has the same sense of humour. As an example, I fell foul of some of the readers of a newspaper column I used to write when I reported that my wife had had a stroke and couldn't speak for half an hour. I wrote that the only thing that would stop her talking for any longer than that would be death. Our way of dealing with tragedy is to make fun of it and my wife understood exactly what my feelings were. Strangers who didn't know our sense of humour objected. You can't please all the people all the time. |
I saw the comment about bad taste, but all I saw Colin say was "A bit harsh". I don't expect everybody to read things in the way they might have been said. The written word carries no feeling and can easily be misinterpreted.
Some of your anecdotes amuse me, John. Some may not be to my taste, but I would never delete anything just because of my personal feelings.
