The Medals Are home

The search to find a home for the medals of Hebburn boy James DIAMOND who died in WW1 is over. We have found a living DIAMOND who is willing to be the curator of his medals, the family bible and other artifacts one of which is a crucifix made from a bullet (or maybe three bullets). With this collection was also a medal for James’ younger brother Alphonsus who did come home but died quite shortly thereafter. I want to thank everyone who helped me in this task especially Vera who must have spent a great deal of time researching then sent lots of information, and Veronica who gave me a family connection which helped greatly.

I’ve been following this closely, and I’m so glad that the medals are now in the hands of family.

Now trying to work out just where we could display this information. There isn't anywhere in Hebburn apart from the library. They are usually good at accommodating the Family History Group. But we aren't in a hurry. Don't want to miss anyone out.

If you can’t find anywhere to present the information for visitors to come along and view, then one solution might be to put the whole story - along with images of all items mentioned - into a PDF document, which I can upload onto the Hebburn Archives website, so everyone can view any time they wish.
