Hello N44, and Don, |
Thank you for pointing out the disparity.
I’m now viewing this postcard in a different light, and wonder if it was sent to Miss Esther Dora Bell, from a male friend, as I can’t see any of the usual words of sentiment that ‘sweethearts’ send to each other:
This is how I now read the postcard (possibly you agree?):
10 October 1915
Just a card hoping to find you in the best of health as it leaves me at present, you will be thinking me very unkind of not writing you sooner but I have been very poorly & plenty of work to do.
Well Dora has John came out here yet – it is quite alright near the firing line hearing the roar of the guns all day long.
Well Dora how is things working up at the old place, it seems quite a long time working in places.
You give my kind regards to each other & folk.
Hoping I see you all soon, greetings, your friend, Bob.
