Just been reading one of the Sunday papers and in it is an article about footballers earning between £300,000 and £500,000 a week being paid bonuses of up to £75,000 if they score a goal.Surely it is part of there job to score goals and that is what they are being paid the exhorbitant amount of money for in the first place.I can remember at school if you did something good you would get a "star" put in your book. When you think of all the deserving people who work hard every week for a pittance compared to what some of these footballers are paid it makes me feel sick.It is a disgrace.
Eddy, I can remember in the fifties that the wages footballers were paid great footballer Wor Jackie Milburn £30 a week,if my memory serves me right, when scoring a goal didn't run around tearing their shirts off, just a shake of hands with teamates.
Footballers the present day are BLACK-MAILING clubs. When their contracts are nearing there term they are threatening the club they will leave if they do not get what they want. Its happening every season.
So who will get the money if they don't? There is millions going round some players have made a packet and they never get near to playing for a first team. Think when Peter Reid was at Sunderland he shipped players in and out without them never putting a shirt on their back. It's called money laundering and they are getting away with it.
