Bernard Hill

Sad to see this brilliant actor has died. I recall him being Yosser Hughes in "Boys from the black stuff". A fact about him is when he played that part about bringing up 2 kids single handed on benefits looking for work he said that life was reality in hard up areas, so much that he tried to refuse unemployment benefits after the series but found he couldn't,he gave it away to those poor people. In my mind, a man in a million...

I remember the “Boys from the Black Stuff” series and what a big effect on people it had at the time. Showing the realities of unemployment and so one.
It was probably the “I, Daniel Blake” of its day. If you haven’t seen that one, it’s well worth a watch, as is “Sorry We Missed You”.
