Are we born, live, produce or not, and then die, and that's it? That would subject us to an animal existence where the fittest survive to dominate, and then they too, die.
I believe there is something "more." The Bible served as a springboard from which to launch; not a foundation into which to root. Too much time passed since a Bible was "updated," and science produced many truths that biblephiles call a war on God or religion.
I believe there is something more, and will always be something more. Put a summary on this chart.
It works for me, for now. Doesn't mean the Bible is wrong. Just that for me it was a stepping stone or springboard into understanding and contemplation a little more modern, given what we learned since.
I remain a Christian because I admire, follow and practice the kind of life and example Christ set. Those who say I am not, and people like me are not have no authority to say anything. The mud around their pot stirring stick hardened into concrete.
I am not concerned about an afterlife. I don't utter the words in belief they alone will "save" me. I am not here to be saved, but to learn and serve.
