I was fortunate to be in college when it was still a viable bridge to a job. My three kids, not so much so. I saw class rates go higher, and higher, and higher. Two opted for trade school (no problem with me... but it sucks that they couldn't have followed their goal in a different venue if they wanted to. There really was no choice.
The third skipped college altogether. It wasn't viable. Thankfully he's got street smarts that have helped him along the way.
