Early on, I marked by life by astronomical events I would see.
Birth
Landing of man on the moon (1969)
Return of Halley's Comet (dud in 1986)
Turn of the millenium (2001)
Death
I saw the past two eclipses, so this one doesn't interest me much.
Below I corrected some misinformation about it, spred by a meme and apparently believed by gullible people who bought into it. Also provided safe information about how to view it.
Most of the special "glasses" sold for this are UNSAFE. A real sun filter is 100,000 times darker than dark sunglasses. Through one, all you can see is disc of the sun, which appears greenish yellow.
Solar blindness is quick, painless, and permanent. Many of the special glasses sold for this event insufficiently filter the harmful wavelengths.
Share of information is never narcissism in spite of what ACN extremists suggest.
