No matter where one digs in the English regolith, up pops a bone,
a stash of Roman coins, a lead coffin, an ancient road, a mound of debris, an ancient graveyard, a sword, jewelry, old shoes. Small wonder metal detectors are popular therein. I’m trying to recall that part of England that today is under water. It was heavily populated. Heavily involved in agriculture with a large population, it was swept clean by a massive tidal wave, and submerged. Roads and villages, rivers have been discovered using high tech sonar.
